Women’s Tennis to face SUU Before Big Sky Championships

Northern Arizona (8-14, 7-2 Big Sky) at Southern Utah (8-10, 3-6 Big Sky)

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After clinching a historic win last weekend over the defending Big Sky Champions, Sacramento State, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team will head to Cedar City for their final regular season match against Southern Utah.

Series History

Southern Utah and Northern Arizona face off for just the second time. Last year was the first meeting between the Lumberjacks and the Thunderbirds and NAU came away with the 5-2 victory in Flagstaff.

Monumental Win for NAU Women's Tennis

After 13 years, the Northern Arizona women were finally able to take down the mighty Hornets of Sacramento State. The Lumberjacks came away with the 6-1 victory at home on Senior Day. NAU is the only team in the Big Sky to pick up six wins against the defending Big Sky Champions. It was also the first win for head coach Kim Bruno over Sacramento State

NAU in Top Tier of the Big Sky

With the win over Sacramento State, the Lumberjacks have clinched the second seed in the Big Sky Championships behind Montana, which means the Lumberjacks will earn a first round bye in the tournament. Among the top five teams in the Big Sky Conference outside of Northern Arizona, the Lumberjacks hold a 3-2 record against those teams that include Montana, Sacramento State, Northern Colorado, Portland State and Montana State.
