    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Northern Arizona University women's tennis program made history this year garnering the Big Sky regular season conference title. The Lumberjacks went undefeated in the regular season and are now ranked 9th in the final ITA Division I Mountain Regional rankings.
  • NAU Sweeps Big Sky All-Sports Awards for Fourth Time in School History

    OGDEN, Utah – For the second time in four years, and the fourth time in school history, the Northern Arizona University Athletics Department swept the Big Sky Men's and Women's All-Sports Trophies, announced by the conference office on Monday. The Lumberjacks won a total of seven Big Sky Conference championships during the 2016-17 academic year and also received strong performances from several other programs.
  • Tomasetti Named ITA Mountain Region Rookie of the Year

    TEMPE, Ariz. – Freshman Chiara Tomasetti was named the ITA Women's Division I Mountain Rookie of the Year May 15 after being regionally ranked No. 18 throughout the season. The ITA released nine honors per region including Coach of the Year, Player to Watch, Rookie of the Year and more. Tomasetti is the only athlete from the Big Sky Conference to receive an honor from the ITA this season.
  • NAU Graduates 44 Student-Athletes During Spring Commencement Ceremonies

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Among the nearly 5,000 Northern Arizona University graduates this weekend will be 44 Lumberjack student-athletes, who will receive their diplomas during the commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday in the Walkup Skydome. Along with the 17 fall semester graduates, NAU Athletics will graduate 61 total student-athletes this academic year.
  • NAU Women's Tennis Garners Six All-Conference Selections

    ODGEN, Utah – The 2017 All-Conference selections were announced today, May 5, for women's tennis with a brand new award format. Voted on by the conference's head coaches, six Lumberjacks in Chiara Tomasetti, Blanka Szavay, Hanneke Lodewijks, Brandy Walker, Marta Lewandowska and Hailey Rochin garnered All-Big Sky honors. After a historical season, back-to-back regular season champions, the Northern Arizona University Women's Tennis team went 18-5 overall with a perfect 11-0 mark in conference.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Senior distance runner Futsum Zienasellassie and sophomore diver Tanya Kurach were among the big winners at Monday night's Fourth Annual Louie's Awards hosted by the Northern Arizona Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Zienasellassie and Kurach were named the Male and Female Athletes of the Year respectively at the end-of-year awards show at NAU's Prochnow Auditorium.

    PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University Women's Tennis team finishes the 2017 season after falling to the University of Idaho in the Big Sky Conference Championship 4-3. The Lumberjacks end as regular season champions with an undefeated 11-0 regular season record. Despite the loss, Northern Arizona had one of its best seasons in program history finishing 18-5 overall.

The Lumberjacks did not compete today as a result of the first-round bye. Throughout the day, Director of Tennis Ki Kroll and the Lumberjacks waited to see who would advance to the semifinals.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — For the second straight year the Northern Arizona University Women's Tennis team goes into the Big Sky Tournament with a regular season championship behind them. The Lumberjack squad will start competition in the tournament semifinals on Friday, April 28 at 2 p.m. in Phoenix, Ariz. Director of Tennis Ki Kroll and the Lumberjacks, with a No. 1 seed, will have a first-round bye and play the lowest remaining seed of either Montana State (No. 3), North Dakota (No. 6), Idaho State (No. 4) or Northern Colorado (No. 5).

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the first time in school history, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team completed a perfect run through conference play with a 6-1 victory over Weber State Saturday morning. By virtue of their Senior Day win at the Aquatic and Tennis Complex, the Lumberjacks wrapped up the regular season with a 17-4 record and an unblemished 11-0 Big Sky mark.

The ‘Jacks have already clinched the Big Sky Conference Regular Season Championship title and will aim to finish the season with a perfect 11-0 record for the first time in school history.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona football senior Patrick Baldenegro and women’s basketball senior Rene Coggins were honored as the Golden Eagle Scholar Athletes of the Year on Tuesday during the 39th annual Golden Eagle Awards luncheon. A total of 190 student-athletes across all 15 of NAU’s athletic programs were honored at the High Country Conference Center.

    MISSOULA, Mont. — The Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team has clinched the regular season championship for the second year in a row with a first round bye in the Big Sky Conference tournament as the No. 1 seed. After today's 7-0 sweep over the Montana Grizzlies, the Lumberjacks have garnered an impressive 10-0 conference record and are 16-4 overall. The 'Jacks have just one match left and will return home to host senior day and end their regular season competition.

    BOZEMAN, Mont. — The NAU Women's Tennis team remains in first place as the only undefeated team in the Big Sky Conference at 9-0 after beating Montana State 4-3 in what was a comeback win. Northern Arizona is the only team thus far to beat the Bobcats and break their 8-0 undefeated conference record. The Lumberjacks are now 15-4 overall and just two matches from the conference tournament.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The NAU Women's Tennis team is three matches away from the Big Sky Conference tournament. The Lumberjacks will hit the road this weekend to compete against the Montana State Bobcats and the Montana Grizzlies. Northern Arizona currently sits in first place with an undefeated 8-0 record. They are coming off of an important 4-3 win over defending conference champions the Idaho Vandals, increasing to 14-4 overall.
  • Freshman Chiara Tomasetti Named Big Sky Player of the Week

    OGDEN, Utah – Freshmen Chiara Tomasetti was named Big Sky Player of the Week for the first time in the blue and gold. In her first season with the Lumberjacks, Tomasetti has garnered 15 singles wins and 14 doubles wins. Tomasetti came to Northern Arizona from Roesrath, Germany and is both regionally and nationally ranked at the No. 2 position in singles and the No. 1 position in doubles.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — In what was their toughest match so far this season, the Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team came out on top over defending conference champions the Idaho Vandals in a close 4-3 match. The Lumberjacks were swept 4-0 by Idaho last season in the Big Sky championships, but were able to steal the Vandals' undefeated streak this season increasing to 8-0 in the Big Sky.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — After clinching a spot in the Big Sky conference tournament with their win over North Dakota last weekend, the Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team is now aiming for a conference title. The Lumberjacks are currently sitting in first place with an undefeated 7-0 Big Sky record over 6-0 Idaho and 5-0 Montana State. This weekend defending regular season champions Northern Arizona will face the defending conference champions Idaho in a match that will break an undefeated streak.

No. 18 regionally ranked freshman Chiara Tomasetti and senior Blanka Szavay are now ranked No. 63 in the nation in doubles and currently the only nationally ranked Big Sky pair so far this season.

    GRAND FORKS, N.D. — The Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team remains undefeated in conference after sweeping North Dakota 7-0 early Saturday, April 1. This is the Lumberjacks second straight sweep after beating Eastern Washington last weekend. The 'Jacks increase to 12-4 overall and 7-0 in conference going into Sunday's match up against South Dakota State.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — After 15 matches the Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team is nearing the end of their season and will travel this weekend to compete against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. The Lumberjacks remain undefeated in the Big Sky at 6-0 and sit at the top of the conference with Montana State and Idaho, both of whom are 5-0. The 'Jacks are coming off a 7-0 sweep over Eastern Washington and looking to solidify a spot in the Big Sky conference tournament.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — With only six conference matches remaining, the Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team remains on top increasing to 6-0 after sweeping the Eastern Washington Eagles at home. Going into the match the Lumberjacks were tied for first with Montana State and Idaho, both with a 5-0 record. Overall, Northern Arizona is 11-4 and has maintained an undefeated home record throughout the season so far.
  • Strong Start Not Strong Enough Over Nationally Ranked ASU Women's Tennis Program

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team traveled south to take on in-state rivals No. 45 Arizona State in Tempe. The Sundevils prove a strong opponent every year for the Lumberjacks as a Pac-12 conference team. However, this year the Lumberjacks came out with everything they had, beating ASU in doubles to give them an early lead. Despite the effort, the Lumberjacks lost 6-1. The 'Jacks are now 10-4 overall going into the weekend against conference opponent Eastern Washington.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team will travel south to face the nationally ranked Arizona State Sundevils Friday, March 24 before returning home to host the Eastern Washington Eagles Sunday, March 26. The Lumberjacks are coming off a close 4-3 win over Idaho State, in what was the women's first time playing outdoors in their new Aquatic and Tennis Complex. Northern Arizona increases to 10-3 overall and 5-0 in conference, all the while remaining undefeated at home.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The sun and wind proved to be difficult to play in on both sides of the net, as the Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team hosted the Idaho State Bengals late afternoon at the Aquatic and Tennis Complex. The Lumberjacks beat the Bengals in a close 4-3 match after being up 3-0. The 'Jacks successfully defended their undefeated home winning record, now 6-0, and increased to 5-0 in conference.

The Lumberjacks are coming off their third loss of the season, after Wyoming put an end to the 'Jacks impressive nine-match winning streak in a comeback 4-3 win for the Cowgirls. Northern Arizona is 9-3 overall and will put their 4-0 conference record and undefeated at home streak to the test against the ISU Bengals.

    LARAMIE, Wyo. — The Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team remained on the road to face the University of Wyoming Cowgirls in what was a heartbreaking end to their nine-match winning streak. The Lumberjacks dropped their first loss in 10 matches 4-3 after the Cowgirls came from behind to get the win. The Lumberjacks are now 9-3 overall, while still remaining undefeated in conference and at home.

    GREELEY, Colo. — The Northern Arizona Women's Tennis team traveled to Greeley to take on Northern Colorado in their fourth conference match of the season. The Lumberjacks won 6-1 on the road and increase to 9-2 overall, while remaining undefeated in conference. The 'Jacks will continue the weekend on the road against the University of Wyoming.
