Volleyball Shows Excellence in the Classroom; Six Earn Big Sky All-Academic Honors
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - In the Fall of
2008, for the second straight semester, the NAU volleyball team
recorded the highest grade-point-average among the 15 Lumberjack
athletic teams. The 16 student-athletes on the roster averaged an
impressive 3.40 GPA, following a 3.49 average GPA in the Spring of
2008. Six volleyball student-athletes earned Big Sky All-Academic
honors following for the Fall of 2008.
Freshman Sara Bowden, senior Alex Fell, senior Emily Osiadacz, senior Kailee Savage, senior Brittany Stowers and freshman Lexi Sullivan all earned Big Sky All-Academic honors by participating in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions and recording a 3.2 or above GPA for the semester.
Fourteen of the 16 student-athletes on the volleyball roster had GPA's of 3.00 or higher this past fall, during the competition season. Three student-athletes- Bowden, Roni Greenwood and Savage, recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Stowers, with a 3.75 GPA, earned ESPN the Magazine's CoSIDA Academic All-District award, which honors student-athletes who achieve above and beyond both academically and athletically.
