MISSOULA, Mont. – Northern Arizona volleyball dropped a 3-0 match to Montana at the West Auxiliary Gym on Saturday night. The Lumberjacks fell by sets of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-20.
NAU (9-14, 5-8 BSC) split its Montana trip defeating Montana State, 3-2, on Thursday and falling to Montana on Saturday.
The Lumberjacks played the Grizzlies close in the first set missing a 1-0 lead by only two points. Montana (11-3, 7-6 BSC) closed the match in straight sets after the Lumberjacks' pushed the Grizzlies to five sets at home on Oct. 7.
NAU was outhit .264 to .119 for the match. The Lumberjacks failed to hit over .200 in any set but played its best volleyball in the deciding set despite being down, 2-0. The women posted a .171 hitting percentage in the third set.
Sophomore Lexi Sullivan continued her big week leading NAU with 13 kills. In this week's matches against Montana State and Montana, Sullivan averaged 4.50 kills per set with a .194 hitting percentage.
Kelli Dallmann put up another double double on Saturday with 30 assists and 11 digs. The sophomore setter now has 11 matches this year in which she has totaled a double double adding two more to the total this week.
Sophomore Anna Gott also added to her streak of 10 or more matches with double digits in digs. She started the streak at Idaho State on Sept. 17 and now has 10 or more digs in every Big Sky match this fall.
The Lumberjacks have two matches at home next week hosting Portland State and Eastern Washington. The women face Portland State on Thursday, Nov. 11 and Eastern Washington on Saturday, Nov. 13. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. start times.
NAU fell to Portland State and Eastern Washington, 3-0, earlier this year.
