OGDEN, Utah – After averaging 4.36 kills and 2.18 digs per set in earning MVP honors for the Fiesta Bowl Tournament over the weekend, NAU senior outside hitter Kobi Christensen was today named Big Sky Player of the Week. Christensen earned the award for the second time in her career after taking home the honor following last year's Fiesta Bowl Tournament, in which she was also the MVP. It is the second such honor in as many weeks for the Lumberjacks after junior setter Kelli Dallmann earned the award last week.
Christensen led all players in kills during the Fiesta Bowl Tournament, leading NAU to the tournament championship and pushing the Lumberjacks record to 6-0, their best start to a season since 1991. The Kelowna, B.C., Canada native tallied a career high 23 kills in NAU's tournament championship victory over New Mexico and had at least 12 kills in all three Lumberjack matches. She posted a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs vs. Hampton and had 51 total service receptions for the tournament with no reception errors.
The only undefeated team in the Big Sky, NAU returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo.
