OGDEN, Utah – After hitting .366 and averaging 4.00 kills per set to lead NAU to a championship in the UNLV Invitational, senior outside hitter Kelli Dallmann has been named the Co-Big Sky Volleyball Player of the Week. Dallmann, playing her first matches as a full time outside hitter after serving as NAU's primary setter the last three seasons, shared the award with Northern Colorado's Marissa Hughes.
Dallmann was named MVP of the season opening tournament after leading NAU to a 3-0 record and the tournament championship. She totaled 44 kills for the weekend (4.00 kills/set) while hitting .366 and added 17 digs (1.55 digs/set) as well as two blocks, totaling 4.2 points per set.
Dallmann hit .321 with 13 kills and five digs in NAU's season opening 3-0 sweep of The Citadel and followed with 12 kills on a .370 hitting percentage and seven digs as NAU defeated CSU Bakersfield 3-1. In the tournament championship match vs UNLV, Dallmann posted a career-high 19 kills while hitting .395 and adding five digs and a block in a 3-1 championship-clinching victory for NAU.
The Big Sky Player of the Week honor is the third of Dallmann's NAU career after she earned two such awards last season. The NAU volleyball team, which has won 12 consecutive non-conference matches and four consecutive tournaments dating back to last season, returns to action on Friday and Saturday at the Omni Hotels Colorado Volleyball Classic in Boulder, Colo.
