GREELEY, Colo. – Senior Anna Gott and sophomore Kalee Kirby were named to the Big Sky Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team following the championship match on Saturday night in Greeley. They became the first Lumberjacks to be named to the Big Sky Championship All-Tournament Team since Kim Babcock in 2007.
Gott totaled 42 digs in NAU's two matches in the tournament, averaging 6.00 digs per set. She had 20 digs in NAU's 3-0 semifinal win over Montana State before totaling 22 digs as the Lumberjacks lost to Idaho State, 3-1, in the semifinals. She also added a team-high three service aces in the matches while totaling three assists. She ended her NAU career with a program record 1,891 digs, the third highest career digs total in Big Sky history.
Kirby was superb in NAU's two tournament matches including a double-double against Idaho State. She totaled 84 assists (12.00 assists per set) and 21 digs (3.00 digs per set) while adding three blocks, a service ace, and five kills on a .455 hitting percentage. Against the Bengals, Kirby totaled 51 assists, 13 digs, three kills, and two blocks to notch her team-leading 13th double-double of the season. That performance came after she had 33 assists, eight digs, two kills, a block, and a service ace to lead NAU past Montana State in the quarterfinals for the Lumberjacks first postseason win since 1999.
NAU finished its season at 24-7 with the best winning percentage (.774) and the second most wins in a season in program history.
