  • NAU Athletics Wins Back-to-Back Big Sky Presidents’ Cup

    OGDEN, Utah – For the second straight year, Northern Arizona Athletics has captured the Big Sky Presidents’ Cup presented by Red Lion Hotels. NAU finished first in overall in athletic points for the second consecutive year, in addition to claiming the Big Sky Men’s and Women’s All-Sports Trophies in May.
  • Four Lumberjacks Named NSCA All-American Athlete Award Recipients

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and Muscle Milk announced that four Northern Arizona student-athletes were named 2014 All-American Athlete Award recipients. Football seniors Drew Emanuel and Kyle Walker, soccer senior Elinor Priest, and volleyball junior Sydney Kemper were all recognized by the organization.

  • NAU Captures Men’s and Women’s Big Sky All-Sports Trophy

    OGDEN, Utah – Northern Arizona has captured both the men’s and women’s Big Sky All-Sports Trophies, the conference office announced Monday. The Lumberjacks went into the outdoor track championship with the lead, and a sweep by the men’s and women’s teams this past weekend secured NAU the win on both sides. The sweep is the first true sweep by any school since 2000-01.

  • Women’s Tennis and Swimming & Diving Rank in Top 10 Percent

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Arizona women’s tennis and swimming & diving were both honored by the NCAA for earning Public Recognition Awards, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate. These awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent in each sport. This is the second straight year women’s tennis has received the honor.
  • Forty-Three Student-Athletes to Receive Degrees This Weekend

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Forty-three Northern Arizona student-athletes will receive their degrees from the university this weekend as part of the Spring 2014 commencement ceremonies. When adding in the 15 student-athletes who participated in the Fall 2013 commencement ceremonies, the NAU Athletics Department produced a total of 58 graduates for the 2013-14 academic year.
  • Volleyball Inks Elite Junior College Setter for 2014

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – With just one setter on next season's roster, the Northern Arizona volleyball team needed depth at the position and found it in Jordan Leiter, who signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the Lumberjacks in 2014 following two accomplished seasons at Central Arizona College.

Dorsey is slated to begin her NAU career as a middle blocker, but also comes in with experience on the outside.

It was a night of celebration, honoring and recognizing all of the Lumberjack student-athletes for their success in the classroom, in competition and in the community.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona volleyball team landed an experienced Division-I transfer to bolster their defensive back row in Stacia Williams, a three-year member of Cal Poly’s volleyball team. Williams will be a redshirt junior in the fall after receiving a medical redshirt in 2013.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University Athletics Department held its 36th annual Golden Eagle Awards Tuesday at the High Country Conference Center to recognize its student-athletes for their stellar work in the classroom. Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc., honored 199 Lumberjack student-athletes for their scholastic and athletic accomplishments. The award recognizes student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average.

Fans are encouraged to attend as the match will be open to the public with free admission for all in attendance. The match will begin at 11:30 a.m.
  • Volleyball Heads to Albuquerque to Open Spring

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona volleyball team opens their brief spring schedule this weekend in Albuquerque, N.M. at the New Mexico Spring Tournament with four matches on Saturday. The Lumberjacks will play host New Mexico in addition to West Texas A&M and Adams State with their first match of the day against UNM alums at 9 a.m. Flagstaff time.
  • Lumberjack Student-Athletes Volunteer with Winter Games

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Last Friday and Saturday, the Northern Arizona football, volleyball and soccer teams volunteered with the Special Olympics Winter Games here in Flagstaff at a variety of locations. In all, 25 student-athletes volunteered a total of 94.5 hours over the two days.

  • NAU Athletics Hosts 2nd Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona athletics department will once again celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day for the second consecutive year with a celebration that will stretch over two weekends in February. The celebration will begin on Saturday, Feb. 8, with a Youth Sports Symposium in conjunction with the NAU men’s basketball game against Southern Utah that night and will continue the following weekend with a meet and greet and halftime recognition at the NAU women’s basketball game against Eastern Washington. The clinic on Feb. 8 is open to all youth, both boys and girls, in 1st-8th grade and requires pre-registration.

    PORTLAND, Ore. – The Northern Arizona volleyball team furiously rallied back from a 2-0 deficit but came up short in their comeback to advance to the Big Sky Championship semifinals. Montana held on for a five-set win, 25-16, 25-22, 20-25, 21-25, 15-10, in the face of the Lumberjacks' comeback bid Saturday afternoon at the Peter W. Stott Center.
  • Vander Ploeg, Kemper Earn All-Big Sky Honors

    OGDEN, Utah – On the eve of the Big Sky Championships, the Northern Arizona volleyball team placed two players on the All-Big Sky teams on Thursday as voted on by the conference's head coaches. Sophomore Janae Vander Ploeg was selected to the All-Big Sky first team while junior Sydney Kemper was named an All-Big Sky second team selection, giving the Lumberjacks multiple all-conference players for the third consecutive year.
  • Volleyball Heads to Portland With Big Sky Title Aspirations

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Two losses to close out the regular season may not have been the ending the Northern Arizona volleyball team (19-10, 13-7 Big Sky) would have preferred, but the Lumberjacks turn their attentions to the Big Sky Championships hungry for a title. In search of just their second Big Sky championship, the No. 4 seeded Lumberjacks begin their chase on Friday at 1:05 p.m. with a quarterfinal matchup against No. 5 Montana. A win would set up a semifinal date with host and top-seeded Portland State Friday night at 8 p.m. before a potential championship match on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Emma Grimsrud (Regina, Saskatchewan), Kaylie Jorgenson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and Reese Laufasa (Bothell, Wash.) will join what will be another talented Lumberjack squad that will lose just two seniors heading into 2014 season.

    GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Arizona volleyball team will enter next week's Big Sky Championships in Portland, Ore. as the No. 4 seed after suffering a tough five-set loss at Northern Colorado, 25-17, 23-25, 27-25, 23-25, 15-13, in their regular season finale. NAU (19-10, 13-7 Big Sky) will face No. 5 Montana, a team it defeated twice in the regular season, in the opening round of the conference tournament next Friday.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona volleyball team concludes the regular season this week on the road at North Dakota on Thursday and Northern Colorado on Saturday with a berth in the Big Sky Championships in hand. The Lumberjacks clinched one of the six spots with a victory over Montana last Thursday, which they followed with a victory over Montana State on Senior Night. NAU currently finds itself in a tie for third place holding the tiebreaker over Idaho State entering the final week of the season.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – In front of a crowd of 602, the second-highest home attendance this season, the Northern Arizona volleyball team sent their two seniors – Lexie Schroeder and Erin Truett – out with a win in their final home match. The Lumberjacks clicked on all cylinders and wrapped up their home schedule in style defeating Montana State, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21, 25-17. NAU (19-8, 13-5 Big Sky) finished with an 11-2 record at the Rolle Activity Center, equaling the program-best for home victories in a season.
