Cross Country Remains at No. 3 in USTFCCCA Coaches Poll
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The first regular season national cross country poll in Division I by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has yielded little change to the top as the Northern Arizona men's cross country team remains at No. 3 in the national rankings. The Lumberjacks received one first place vote for the second time this season.
The only change in the week one poll from the Aug. 31 preseason poll was the distribution of first-place votes between No. 1 Stanford (5) and No. 2 Oklahoma State (5).
The men’s team opened its season on Sept. 4 with a victory at the George Kyte Classic for the fourth-consecutive year. Senior Jason Pedersen led the way for the Lumberjacks with a second-place team finish, the highest of his career at the event.
Both the men's and women's squads return to action this weekend as they head to San Diego, Calif., to take part in the Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University on Saturday.
