Lumberjack Women Heading to Phoenix for GCU Invitational
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - A handful of Northern Arizona University women cross country runners will travel to Phoenix on Saturday to compete in the Grand Canyon University Invitational.
"On the women's side, we have a number of underclassmen who have the ability to contribute to our team," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Eric Heins. "A couple of them were able to run in Oklahoma [last week], so we want to get the rest of them a chance to prove that they deserve a trip to Wisconsin in two weeks."
Traveling to Phoenix for the meet will be sophomore Sarah Raber and freshmen Sarah Baker, Shayla Freeman, and Kylee Kieser.
All four have competed in at least one meet so far this season, but it's Baker who has the best finish among the four so far. She finished in 20th place at the Dave Murray Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. on Sept. 16.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. local time.
