  • NAU Athletics Wins Back-to-Back Big Sky Presidents’ Cup

    OGDEN, Utah – For the second straight year, Northern Arizona Athletics has captured the Big Sky Presidents’ Cup presented by Red Lion Hotels. NAU finished first in overall in athletic points for the second consecutive year, in addition to claiming the Big Sky Men’s and Women’s All-Sports Trophies in May.

  • NAU Captures Men’s and Women’s Big Sky All-Sports Trophy

    OGDEN, Utah – Northern Arizona has captured both the men’s and women’s Big Sky All-Sports Trophies, the conference office announced Monday. The Lumberjacks went into the outdoor track championship with the lead, and a sweep by the men’s and women’s teams this past weekend secured NAU the win on both sides. The sweep is the first true sweep by any school since 2000-01.

  • Women’s Tennis and Swimming & Diving Rank in Top 10 Percent

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Arizona women’s tennis and swimming & diving were both honored by the NCAA for earning Public Recognition Awards, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate. These awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent in each sport. This is the second straight year women’s tennis has received the honor.
  • Forty-Three Student-Athletes to Receive Degrees This Weekend

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Forty-three Northern Arizona student-athletes will receive their degrees from the university this weekend as part of the Spring 2014 commencement ceremonies. When adding in the 15 student-athletes who participated in the Fall 2013 commencement ceremonies, the NAU Athletics Department produced a total of 58 graduates for the 2013-14 academic year.

It was a night of celebration, honoring and recognizing all of the Lumberjack student-athletes for their success in the classroom, in competition and in the community.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University Athletics Department held its 36th annual Golden Eagle Awards Tuesday at the High Country Conference Center to recognize its student-athletes for their stellar work in the classroom. Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc., honored 199 Lumberjack student-athletes for their scholastic and athletic accomplishments. The award recognizes student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average.

    NEW ORLEANS – The NCAA Division I Cross Country Champion Providence women and the Northern Arizona men have been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Scholar Team of the year for the 2013 cross country season among 217 women’s programs and 160 men’s programs that earned All-Academic Team honors.

  • NAU Athletics Hosts 2nd Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona athletics department will once again celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day for the second consecutive year with a celebration that will stretch over two weekends in February. The celebration will begin on Saturday, Feb. 8, with a Youth Sports Symposium in conjunction with the NAU men’s basketball game against Southern Utah that night and will continue the following weekend with a meet and greet and halftime recognition at the NAU women’s basketball game against Eastern Washington. The clinic on Feb. 8 is open to all youth, both boys and girls, in 1st-8th grade and requires pre-registration.

    TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Northern Arizona University's men's cross country team competed at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships at the historic Levern Gibson Cross Country Course. The Lumberjack men finished second led by a trio of All-Americans. Rolonda Jumbo of the women's cross country also competed as an individual finishing 195th at her first national meet.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Northern Arizona University’s men’s cross country team as well as Rolonda Jumbo of the women’s cross country team will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday Nov. 23rd. The men’s 10K will begin at noon followed by the women’s 8K beginning at 1:15 p.m. ET.

NAU men’s cross country is on top of the poll for the first time since the beginning of USTFCCCA records in 1995 after taking down former No. 1 Colorado and winning the Mountain Region, perhaps the nation’s deepest region.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Rolonda Jumbo of the Northern Arizona University women’s cross country team has qualified to compete at the NCAA National Championships. Although the women’s team as a whole did not qualify, Jumbo’s All-Region performance at the Mountain Regional Championship meet allowed for her to be selected to compete individually.

Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Eric Heins has been selected as the Big Sky Conference Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year. The 2013 recipients were chosen in a vote by the league’s coaches earlier this week.
