Lumberjack Men Second in Regional Preseason Poll, Women Fourth

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released their preseason regional coaches' poll today, placing the Northern Arizona men second behind reigning national champion Colorado.

Last year, Northern Arizona overtook Colorado at the regional championships to take their second-straight Mountain Regional title. The Lumberjacks returns all but two from that team, including third-place finisher Futsum Zienasellassie and ninth-place Matt McElroy.

Colorado was picked to finish first with BYU, New Mexico and Colorado State rounding out the top-five.

The women's team was picked to finish fourth in the region after placing sixth at last year's meet. Colorado was picked to finish first on the women's side followed by New Mexico in second and Big Sky foe Weber State in third.

The women bring back all but one from last year's regional team including Rolonda Jumbo who competed at last year's national championships.

Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Eric Heins was named Mountain Region Coach of the Year following the Lumberjacks' performance.
