Before coming to Northern Arizona University, Schaefer spent the past year as the Sports Information Assistant at Buffalo State College, a Division III school that competes in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).  There he helped run the coverage for the school’s 18 varsity programs as well as helping to maintain the department’s website and social media accounts.

Schaefer also served in the same role at Kutztown University, a Division II school in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) during the winter/spring of 2016.  There he assisted in all aspects of running coverage for the school’s 21 varsity teams, and served as the main contact for the baseball and softball programs.

He also spent two seasons covering the Buffalo Bills as well as other NFL teams for Pro Player Insiders.  Over the course of his time there, Schaefer attended Bills home games during the 2014 and 2015 seasons, training camp practices, team press conferences and more as a credentialed member of the media.  His most notable work came during his time covering the AFC Champion Denver Broncos during Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco.

Schaefer earned his Bachelor of Arts in journalism with a concentration in sports communications from Buffalo State in 2015.  He is a native of Buffalo, NY, and is continuing his education at NAU to pursue a master’s degree in educational leadership.
