Filip Kanczula, a former performer for Lamar University men’s tennis program, is joining the NAU men’s tennis staff for his first season as a graduate assistant for the 2018-2019 season.

Kanczula spent his last six years coaching on the pro tour. He helped coach Hubert Hurkacz to a top 30 ranking in the world in juniors and helped transition him to the pro tour. Hurkacz is now ranked 79th in ATP ranking.  Kanczula also coached a doubles pair to a top 200 ranking in the ATP rankings. He also worked with the Polish national junior teams, where he coached several of them at the European championships.

Kanczula graduated from Lamar University with his bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship. He had spent all four seasons with the Cardinals where he had earned a top 25 national doubles ranking with current NAU head coach Maciej Bogusz as his partner. Kanczula was also honored with the Southland Conference player of the year award.
