Volleyball Notches Second Conference Win

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Lauren Campbell led all players with 13 kills
as the Northern Arizona volleyball team defeated Montana State 3-0
on Saturday. The Lumberjacks improved to 2-4 in the Big Sky
Conference winning sets by 25-21, 25-18, and 25-10.
NAU (5-10, 2-4 BSC) hit a conference season-high .319 hitting
percentage en route to their second league win of the year.
With the victory, the Lumberjacks placed themselves back contention
for a berth in the Big Sky Conference Championships.
NAU played Montana State (2-13, 0-7 BSC) even in the first set
and pulled out the win after being down 20-17.
The Lumberjacks were down early in the second set, but behind
the serving of Lexie Schroeder, NAU rallied with a 7-0
run midway through the set with timely kills from Campbell, Jen
Wilson, and Kelli Dallman.
In the third set the Lumberjacks opened a 14-4 lead and cruised
for the 25-10 win to clinch the match.
Campbell posted a match-high .417 hitting percentage of players
with 10 or more attacks and picked up six digs in the Lumberjacks
fifth win of the season. Campbell, a freshman outside hitter
from Covington, Wash., has played in every set for the Lumberjacks
this fall.
Freshman outside hitter and setter Kelli Dallman nearly posted a
double-double with nine kills and 22 assists. Dallman hit a
season-high .412 for the match and picked up seven digs in the
process.
Montana State's Kyla Hendry paced Montana State (2-13, 0-7) with
nine kills and two blocks, while Meghan Albiston guided the Bobcats
defensively with eight digs.
After splitting this weekend's matches, the Lumberjacks will
return home for contests against Eastern Washington and Portland
State.
