POCATELLO, Idaho – Northern Arizona volleyball took a step back in the Big Sky Conference Championship race on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Idaho State. The Lumberjacks were down 2-0, rallied to win the third set, but ultimately fell in the fourth and final frame. NAU lost the match by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 20-25, and 25-16.

NAU (7-13, 4-7 BSC) played well on Saturday totaling 52 kills for a hitting percentage of .229, well above its season average of .176. Unfortunately for the Lumberjacks, Idaho State (10-14, 4-8 BSC) also played a great match hitting .257 with four players with double-digit kill totals.

The Lumberjacks were led by freshman outside hitter and setter Kelli Dallmann who posted the second triple-double of her short career with 19 assists, 14 kills, and 14 digs. Dallmann is one of two players in all of Division I women's volleyball to average three assists, two kills, and two digs per set.

In addition to Dallmann's outstanding performance, freshman Anna Gott totaled a career-high 29 digs. Gott is ranked second in the conference in digs per set with 4.41. She averaged 7.25 per set on Saturday night.

The Lumberjacks had four players with double-digit dig totals and also posted 20 blocks, the most on the year. NAU even had four players, with 10 or more attempts, hit over .200 for the match.

Despite falling behind 2-0 after sets one and two, NAU had opportunities to win those sets holding leads in each. The Lumberjacks were up 11-9 in the first and 17-16 in the second before Idaho State mounted comebacks.

NAU will remain in sixth place in the conference standings as Idaho State holds at seventh with one more loss than the Lumberjacks.

The women will return to Flagstaff next weekend for matches against Montana State and Montana. NAU is set to face Montana State on Thursday, November 5 and Montana on Saturday, November 7. Both matches are schedule for 7:05 p.m. start times.
