OGDEN, Utah – Northern Arizona volleyball continued its push for a postseason bid with a 3-0 sweep over Weber State on Friday night. The Lumberjacks picked up their fourth Big Sky Conference win and remain behind Sacramento State and Montana for the final spot in the championship tournament.

NAU (7-12, 4-6 BSC) gained a full game on Montana (9-12, 5-5 BSC) after the Grizzlies lost to Portland State 3-0 on Friday night. Sacramento State (15-11, 5-5 BSC), who is idle this weekend, now sits in a tie with Montana in fourth place with the Lumberjacks only a game behind.

In Friday's match, NAU pulled ahead in the first set behind the play of sophomore Kobi Christensen, who recorded five kills, and freshman Lauren Campbell, who added four in the opening frame. NAU closed the set 25-22.

The second set was far closer with 11 ties and three lead changes, but the Lumberjacks were able to keep a small three to four point cushion in the back half of the set to pull ahead 2-0. NAU won the set 25-22 with three kills apiece from Campbell and sophomore Katie Bailey.

The women closed the match in strong fashion holding a lead from the first scored point and completed the sweep over Weber State (5-18, 3-8 BSC) with a 25-16 win. A 10-4 run midway through sealed NAU's second conference road win.

For the match, Campbell led with a team-high eight kills followed by freshman Kelli Dallmann's seven kills. Christensen and freshman Jen Wilson each added six. Jana Mays-Robinson posted 22 assists while freshman Anna Gott totaled nine digs.

The Lumberjacks tallied 34 kills in all for a hitting percentage of .211. Weber State posted five more kills in the match, but hit only .155.

NAU will play Idaho State (9-14, 3-8 BSC) on Saturday, October 31 in Pocatello, Idaho. Idaho State lost to Northern Colorado (15-9, 8-2 BSC) on Friday night. The Bengals, seventh place in the Big Sky, defeated the Lumberjacks 3-1 earlier this year, and NAU will look for its fifth league win to remain alive in the postseason hunt.
