Chipangama, Leutert Named Big Sky Conference Athletes of the Week

OGDEN, Utah - The Big Sky
Conference has announced its Cross Country Athletes of the Week for
races held from Sept. 28th through Oct. 4th. Northern
Arizona's Astrid Leutert and Weber State's Sarah
Callister were named the women's Co-Athletes of the Week,
while NAU's Jordan Chipangama was named men's Athlete
of the Week.
In her first race of the season, Leutert finished eighth overall,
and first on the team, at the Cowboy Jamboree this past weekend in
Stillwater, Okla. The junior from Zurich, Switzerland helped lead
the women's team to a fourth place finish, by posting a time
of 17:37 on the 5K course.
Freshman Sarah Callister placed 17th at the Dellinger Invitational
in Eugene Oregon. In a field that included national powers Oregon,
Villanova, and Baylor, Callister posted a time of 17:17. The Ogden,
Utah native led the Wildcats to a seventh place finish.
Chipangama led Northern Arizona's men's team to the
title at the Cowboy Jamboree over No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 9
William and Mary and No. 1 Division II Adams State with his first
place finish. The junior from Lusaka, Zambia finished with a time
of 23:44, a season best. It was Chipangama's
second-consecutive victory. He won the Aztec Invitational two weeks
ago.
The Lumberjacks head down to Tempe on Saturday to take part in the
Canyon West Classic.
