Diving's Harris Fourth on 1-Meter in Championship Final at Arizona Invitational, Ardavanis Second in Consolation

TUCSON, Ariz. – Northern
Arizona diver Taryn Harris improved upon her seventh place finish
on the 3-meter placing fourth in the championship finals on the
1-meter during the 2nd Wildcat Diving Invitational on Saturday.
Freshman Kristy Ardavanis also finished second in the consolation
finals on the 1-meter.
Harris scored 236.70 in the preliminary round entering the finals
as the eighth and final seed. Harris improved upon that number at
the right time scoring 268.45 in the finals finishing behind only
Buffalo's Meili Carpenter, Arizona State's Ellina
Eggers and BYU's Tawni Jones.
Ardavanis, a freshman from Gilbert, Ariz., advanced to the
consolation final after finishing in 14th place in the preliminary
round. Ardavanis entered as the six-seed in the consolation round,
and like Harris, bested her finish in the previous round scoring
243.40 and finishing behind only Brittany Jumer from Arizona
State.
Four other Lumberjacks were in action on the 1-meter Saturday.
Lana Christensen finished 21st (213.80), Megan Collier in 23rd
(211.0), Holly Frost in 28th (196.95) and Cassie Anderson in 30th
(196.10). NAU finished behind only BYU for the most divers in the
top 30 among the 12 teams to enter divers on the 1-meter.
In the 1-meter competition, divers performed six optional dives.
The dives had to come from five different groups and no dive could
be repeated.
The Lumberjacks will take part in the platform competition on
Sunday at 11 a.m.
