Swimming and Diving's Harris Selected WAC Diver of the Week

Arizona swimming and diving's Taryn Harris was selected
Verizon Wireless WAC Diver of the Week, the conference announced on
Wednesday. Harris finished fourth on the 1-meter and seventh on the
3-meter at the Wildcat Diving Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., this
past weekend.
Harris placed fourth in the championship finals on the 1-meter
scoring 236.70 in the preliminary round and entering the finals as
the eighth and final seed. Harris improved upon that number at the
right time scoring 268.45 in the finals finishing behind only
Buffalo's Meili Carpenter, Arizona State's Ellina
Eggers and BYU's Tawni Jones.
Harris, from East Wenatchee, Wash., advanced to the 3-meter finals
scoring 285.25 in the preliminary round with the
competition's fourth-best performance. She finished in
seventh-place with a score of 256.25.
The junior diver's preliminary score on 3-meter (285.25) was
an NCAA Zone Qualifying score and her final score on 1-meter
(268.45) was an NCAA Zone Qualifying score as well.
Harris was competing in the Lumberjacks' first of two
invitationals this year, a meet featuring more than 70 divers from
12 schools including programs such as Arizona, Arizona State, BYU,
Buffalo, New Mexico, San Jose State, Stanford, UNLV and Wisconsin.
San Jose State's Heather Denman was named the Verizon
Wireless WAC swimmer of the week. Denman set three WAC
individual season-bests at the Toshiba Classic in Long Beach,
Calif., and was a member of three relays that also set top times in
the WAC this year
