Men's Basketball Hosts UC Riverside Sunday

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – With
finals and the fall semester behind them, the Northern Arizona
men's basketball team will host UC Riverside Sunday in the
first game in the Walkup Skydome this season. Tipoff is scheduled
for 4:05 p.m.
The Lumberjacks are in the midst of a stretch of eight out of nine
road games over the next month. Sunday's game is the only
home game over a 42-day stretch for the Lumberjacks.
NAU owns a 3-3 all-time record against UC Riverside in six meetings
between the schools. UC Riverside won the meeting last season 59-52
last November, continuing a streak of five consecutive victories by
the home team in the series. NAU won the first meeting in Riverside
74-64 in 1961-62.Mike Adras is 1-2 all-time against the Highlanders
with a loss in 2003-04 and a win in 2004-05.
Former NAU assistant Dennis Cutts is in his third season on the
Highlander staff.
Cutts spent three seasons as an assistant coach for Adras and
helped lead the Lumberjacks into the postseason in each of his
three seasons with the program, including a first round NCAA
Tournament appearance in 2000.
The NAU athletics department will host a toy drive this week for
the UC Riverside game. Fans who bring a new unwrapped toy will
receive FREE general admission. All donations will go to the Salvation Army.
