Women's Tennis Defeated by UTEP
/ February 22, 2009
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After a
4-3 win over New Mexico State, the Northern Arizona women's
tennis team was defeated by UTEP 6-1 at the NMSU Tennis Center on
Saturday. The Lumberjacks will look to post a winning record this
weekend with a 9 a.m. match against Texas-Pan American on
Sunday.
NAU (1-5, 0-1 BSC) was unable to make it two straight over UTEP as
the Miners won all but one match during Saturday's match.
Leslie Vial topped Carolina DeLuca at No. 3 singles (6-4, 7-5). NAU
defeated UTEP last year by a score of 5-2.
The Lumberjacks have two more non-conference matches before picking
up league play on March 7 against Northern Colorado and March 8
against Weber State. NAU dropped its Big Sky opener to No. 43
Sacramento State last weekend.
