Sophomore Golfer Stephanie Kim Finishes Sixth; Team 10th in New Mexico

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Sophomore
Stephanie
Kim shot a three-under par 69 to finish in a team-best tie for
sixth place overall at the Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate
hosted by New Mexico State. NAU finished 10th overall in
the standings after posting a 297 in the final round.
Kim improved her score for the
third consecutive round, finishing at two-over par 218 to go with
scores of 75 and 74 in the first two rounds. Lene Hafsten-Morch of
Baylor won the individual title after recording a seven-under par
65 in the final round. Host New Mexico State captured the team
title over Baylor with a closing 286 to win by five strokes.
"She goes about her business and
consistently posted good scores," said Head Coach Brad Bedortha of
Kim. "She is very enjoyable to watch."
Freshman Kaitlen Parsons posted a
two-over par 74 on Wednesday, finishing tied for 28th.
Senior Dakin
Whitmer carded a three-over 75 in the final round to move into
a tie for 40th. Senior Alexa Kim had a
final-round 79, while Catherine Benscoter had
an 87.
"We competed very well today," said
Head Coach Brad Bedortha. "We are leaving happy with our
performance and glad we were able to finish on a positive
note."
The Lumberjacks have one remaining
tournament in the fall season, the Cal Poly Lamkin Grip Women's
Invitational held Nov. 1-2.

department recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.07 GPA
among its more than 300 student-athletes at the completion of the
spring semester. It marked the 12th semester out of the
last 13 overall that the Lumberjack student-athletes have recorded
a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher. Since 1998, NAU student athletes
have earned a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher in 22 out of 24
semesters.
