Ramadier Advances in Singles at Men's Tennis ITA Mountain Regional

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Sophomore Hugo Ramadier won a second
round singles match and teamed with freshman Bruno Ferreira for a
second round doubles victory to lead Northern Arizona on the second
day of the USTA/ITA Mountain Region Championships in Las Vegas.
Ramadier rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory over Idaho State's
Nate Gross to advance to Friday's third round. He will face Fillip
Pogostkin of Boise State in the round of 32 on Friday at 10 a.m.,
and with a win would play in the round of 16 later Friday at 2 p.m.
NAU senior David
Flodberg also advanced to Thursday's second round but dropped a
6-4, 6-3 decision to New Mexico's Ben Dunbar.
The doubles pair of Ramadier and Ferreira, the only NAU doubles
team to win in the opening round, advanced to the doubles round of
16 with an 8-6 win over Jakob Asplund and Nikita Ryashchenko of
Utah State. The duo then faced the top-seeded doubles team in the
region, New Mexico's Dunbar and Conor Berg, and took an 8-2
loss.
In consolation play, NAU sophomore Patrick Schimmelbauer
scored a 6-3, 6-0 win over Anthony Trabert of Weber State while
Lumberjack freshman Dominic Bermudez cruised
to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Idaho State's Colton Pate. Flodberg and
junior Robin
Pezzutto picked up an 8-6 consolation doubles victory over Dan
Buckingham and Dakota Pate of Idaho State.
Action continues in Las Vegas on Friday beginning at 9 a.m.
