Volleyball Defeated by Idaho State, 3-0

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern
Arizona volleyball tried to make it two straight this weekend but
fell, 3-0, to Idaho State at the Rolle Activity Center on Saturday
night. The Lumberjacks were defeated by sets of 25-21, 25-21,
and 26-24 despite a .221 team hitting percentage.
NAU (8-13, 4-7 BSC) was led by
sophomore Jen
Wilson and freshman Niki Small who
recorded 10 kills apiece. Idaho State (14-11, 6-6 BSC)
produced three players with double-digit kills totals but Wilson
turned in a match-best .429 hitting percentage. Small
recorded a .208 hitting percentage on the night.
The Lumberjacks stay close to Idaho
State throughout the match and had opportunities to win all three
sets.
In the first set, NAU trailed by
only two points at 23-21. In the second, the Lumberjacks took
a 13-10 lead before Idaho State pushed ahead with a 6-1 run.
NAU led the entire third set and held set point at 24-22 but the
Bengals scored the next four points to clinch the match.
Sophomore Kelli Dallmann
totaled 39 assists and sophomore Anna Gott tied a
match-high with 16 digs. Dallmann entered the match as the
Big Sky Conference's assists leader while Gott pushed her streak of
consecutive games with 10 or more digs to 11.
Idaho State's Haylee Thompson-Brock
led all players with 13 kills. The Bengals' Jaclyn Hone and
Britta Bartschi-Roadhouse also turned in double-digit numbers with
12 and 11 kills, respectively. Idaho State hit .262 as a team
on the night.
The Lumberjacks play their final
two away matches of the season next week at Montana and Montana
State. NAU opens with Montana State on Friday, Nov. 5 at 7:30
p.m. and faces Montana on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
