ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Freshman Dominic Bermudez advanced to the final of singles Flight B and teamed with junior Ben Lantz to reach the final of the doubles main draw to lead another busy day of action for Northern Arizona at the New Mexico Balloon Fiesta Invitational. The Lumberjacks were dominant again on Saturday, combining to go 9-7 in singles play and 6-1 in doubles.

Bermudez started his day with a quarterfinal match against Alli Rizvi of Air Force, rallying for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory. Fellow NAU freshman Bruno Ferreira also won in the quarterfinal round, advancing to face Bermudez in the semifinals. Bermudez would rally again to top his teammate, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 to advance to Sunday's final. He will face Steven Young of Air Force, who defeated NAU's Lantz and junior Josh Brown on Saturday on his way to the finals.

In singles Flight A, NAU sophomores Hugo Ramadier and Patrick Schimmelbauer each won quarterfinal matches but were eliminated in the semifinals. The Lumberjacks added three singles wins in consolation play, with a pair of victories for junior Robin Pezzutto and a win from senior David Flodberg.

Bermudez and Lantz got a free pass into the doubles semifinals as their opponents from New Mexico withdrew. In the semifinals, the duo faced another pair from New Mexico in Mads Hegelund and Matt Neeld, scoring an 8-6 win. They will face Phil Anderson and Jaden Phillips of New Mexico in Sunday's final. The Lumberjacks also added four doubles wins in consolation play on Saturday.

Sunday's finals get underway with the doubles title match at 9 a.m.
