Football's Dixon, Zamora, Bauman Earn Weekly Honors

OGDEN, Utah – Sophomore
Giovannie Dixon and junior Drew Zamora were named Big Sky Player of
the Week and freshman Zach Bauman garnered National Freshman of the
Week Monday as result of their performances on Saturday against
Portland State in the season finale.
Dixon was named the conference
offensive player of the week, while Zamora was selected for the
special teams award joining co-defensive players of the week Jordan
Craney of Montana State and J.C. Sherritt of Eastern Washington as
the weekly honorees.
Dixon, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound
sophomore from Reseda, Calif., rushed for 219 yards on just 13
carries and scored two rushing touchdowns in Northern
Arizona's 62-14 victory over Portland State. Dixon averaged
16.8 yards per carry. Dixon scored on runs of 49 and 75 yards. This
is Dixon's first player of the week award.
Zamora, a 6-1, 187-pound junior
from Colorado Springs, Colo., averaged 45.8 yards per punt on four
punts with a long of 70 in Northern Arizona's 62-14 win over
Portland State. One of his punts was downed inside the 20-yard
line. He also had four touchbacks on seven kickoffs. This is his
first player of the week honor.
Bauman, a freshman from Chandler,
Ariz., was selected The Sports Network/ Fathead.com FCS
National Freshman of the Week. Bauman was essential in the win,
running for 153 yards and two touchdowns. His touchdown runs came
on scampers of 82 and 17 yards. Bauman, who finished with 14
carries, also hauled in a 26-yard touchdown reception in the game.
He eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season on his 82-yard
scamper early in the third quarter, breaking Alex Henderson's
freshman rushing mark.
