BRISTOL, Conn. – Incoming freshman guard Shakila Boler, who will suit up for the NAU women's basketball team this coming fall, is featured on the March cover of ESPN Rise, a magazine that connect fans to high school athletes around the country.   Boler recently signed her National Letter of Intent in November.

As a sophomore for Kennedy High School (St. Paul, Minn.), Boler averaged 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds-per-game.

After transferring to Roosevelt (Minneapolis, Minn.), Boler averaged 15.0 points-per-game in an injury shortened season and led the Teddies to a 20-10 record scoring 39 points against Jordan High School (Jordan, Minn.) in the Minnesota state playoffs.

Boler was sidelined with another injury during her senior year appearing in 11 games, but the 5-9 guard is listed as the No. 23-ranked point guard in the 2010 class presented by HoopGurlz/ESPN recruiting services.  She was ranked the No. 25 player in the country according to www.GregSwain.com during her junior season.

Boler will be joined next fall by five other highly regarded recruits for head coach Laurie Kelly.

DID YOU KNOW…Northern Arizona combined the best of both worlds during the 2008-09 academic year with a Top 100 United States Sports Academy Directors Cup standing. NAU ranked among the top 100 for the sixth time in the last seven seasons and 11th overall in the last 13 years.
