FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Playing on the road for the first time since February 27, Northern Arizona (8-3, 3-0 BSC) will play three road matches in as many days this weekend. The Lumberjacks will start with a Big Sky match at Weber State (4-12, 0-4 BSC) on Saturday before continuing conference play at Idaho State (1-9, 0-4 BSC) on Sunday. NAU will conclude its road trip back in Utah on Monday with a non-conference match against Utah State (6-6).

The Lumberjacks are one of two undefeated teams in conference play, joining 7-0 Sacramento State atop the Big Sky table. The Lumberjacks have played two of three Big Sky matches at home thus far and will play their next four conference duals on the road before closing the regular season at home against the Hornets. NAU's two conference opponents this weekend, Weber State and Idaho State, are joined by Portland State as the only winless teams in Big Sky play. The top-four teams in the final regular season standings advance to the Big Sky Championship in Sacramento.

NAU has won its last-three matches and seven of its last eight overall. At the No. 5 and 6 singles positions, freshman Nicole Perez and junior Yumi Hasegawa have each won seven-consecutive matches. Freshman Malia Wahinepio has won three straight matches and has a team-best 9-2 singles record for the season, while juniors Orsi Golovics and Edit Suhajda have also each won three straight at the top of the NAU lineup. All-three NAU doubles teams have eight wins this season, as the Lumberjacks have a phenomenal 25-8 combined doubles record this season, including an 8-1 team doubles mark in conference play.

Scouting Weber State

The Wildcats have lost four of their last five matches, with their only win coming over Division-II Sonoma State. In conference play, Weber State has home losses against Montana and Montana State and road losses at Eastern Washington and Sacramento State, but all of the losses except for Sacramento State were close 4-3 defeats. Weber State will host Northern Colorado on Sunday and Idaho State on Tuesday to complete its homestand.

Senior Keya Jenkins has played exclusively at No. 1 singles for the Wildcats and is 3-13 for the season. Overall, Weber State is 27-69 in singles matches for the year and 8-16 in conference singles play. They have used nine different singles players and 10 unique doubles combinations during the season.

NAU is just 12-22 all-time against Weber State. The Lumberjacks have won the last-four matches between the schools, with the Wildcats last win coming in Ogden in 2006.

Scouting Idaho State

The Bengals begin the week on a seven-match losing streak, with their only win of the season coming against North Dakota on February 20. Idaho State is winless in conference and has been shut out by both Eastern Washington and Sacramento State. The Bengals will host Northern Colorado on Saturday before facing the Lumberjacks on Sunday in their final home match of the season.

Senior Lisel Lewis is 0-10 as the exclusive No. 1 singles player this season. Freshman Amy Bettis and sophomore Rilee Moorhead lead the team with six wins apiece in singles play at No. 3 and 4. The Bengals are a combined 4-20 in Big Sky singles matches and 2-10 in conference doubles tilts.

The Lumberjacks are 14-5 all-time against Idaho State, have won each of the last-five matches 7-0, and have won 14 consecutive matches against the Bengals after Idaho State won the first-five matches between the schools from 1989-1992.

Scouting Utah State

The Aggies are one of three non-conference opponents remaining on the NAU schedule. They being the weekend at 6-6 and will face WAC opponents Hawaii and San Jose State in San Jose, Calif. on Friday. Utah State has lost three consecutive road matches after winning four straight matches at home. The Aggies have already played four other Big Sky teams this season, going 4-0 against Idaho State, Weber State, Montana and Montana State.

Junior Hailey Swensen paces the team with an 8-4 record at No. 1 singles and teams with freshman Jaclyn West for a 9-3 record at No. 1 doubles. The Aggies are 42-30 overall in singles and 17-19 in doubles and have had six of their matches decided by 7-0 scores (four wins, two losses). Utah State is just 1-5 on the road but 5-1 at home in Logan.

Northern Arizona is a perfect 9-0 all-time against Utah State, with the last match a 7-0 NAU victory in 2008. The teams last met in Logan in 2004.
