AURORA, Ore. – The Northern Arizona women's golf team is in fifth place after two rounds of the 2010 Rose City Collegiate co-hosted by Portland State and Oregon State at Langdon Farms Golf Club.

The Lumberjacks shot 309 and 301 in the first two rounds, trailing co-leaders Oregon State and North Texas, Portland State and Hawaii in the 15-school field.

Seniors Alexa Kim and Dakin Whitmer led NAU in the second round. Kim shot a two-under par 70, whole Banta recorded a three-over par 75. Kaitlen Parsons posted a 77, while Stephanie Kim, who led the Lumberjacks in the first round with a 70, had a 79 in the afternoon round.

Freshman Catherine Benscoter had rounds of 81 and 84.

Alexa Kim and Stephanie Kim are both tied for sixth overall at five-over par 149.

Head Coach Brad Bedortha was pleased with the improved play after a disappointing final round in the home tournament last week.

"Alexa came back and got in a nice groove today after a rough start and Dakin came thru in the second round when we needed her," said Bedortha.

NAU will play the third and final round on Tuesday. The Lumberjacks have two remaining tournaments in the fall starting with the Price's New Mexico State Collegiate Invitational Oct. 11-13.
