Swimming & Diving Enters 2010-11 Season with 15th Annual Pentathlon

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The
Northern Arizona swimming and diving team opens the fall season
with the 15th annual Pentathlon at the Wall Aquatic Center on
Friday, October 1 at 2 p.m. The Lumberjack women will compete
in five individual events.
Lumberjack swimmers take part in
five events during the Pentathlon, the 200-meter IM, 100-meter
butterfly, 100-meter backstroke, 100-meter breaststroke, and
100-meter freestyle. The women compete as individuals in a
point-based system. Points are assigned based on the times
earned in each event.
Last year, Fi Connell won
the event as a freshman finishing with 3,970 points and two event
wins in the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke.
Friday's meet will be the first of
two exhibition competitions for the Lumberjacks before the start of
the regular season. The women put on the annual Blue and Gold
Meet on Friday, October 15 before opening the regular season at the
Vandal Relays on November 11.
