Bachelier Earns Capital One Academic All-America Honors

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Senior long snapper Ben Bachelier was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I football team as selected by COSIDA, earning a spot on the 22-player second-team along with Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.

Bachelier was one of three Big Sky Conference players named on one of the two teams, joining Montana's Bobby Alt and Bryan Waldhauser to earn Academic All-America honors. The three Big Sky players were among only 11 student-athletes from the Football Championship Subdivision. He is the 26th student-athlete in school history to earn Academic All-America honors from the CoSIDA program.

A native of Rio Rico, Ariz., Bachelier will graduate on Friday with a degree in exercise science. He was recognized last month as one of 23 graduating seniors in the class of more than 2,350 students that chosen for the prestigious Gold Axe Award for the fall semester.

Bachelier, who was a nominee for the 2011 National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award, has a 3.97 grade point average. He received the 2010 and 2011 Cynthia Bennett Awards for excellence in academics award at the NAU team banquet and is a three-time Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete recipient. The Rio Rico, Ariz., native has served as the team's long snapper for the last four years, seeing action in 35 games while helping the Lumberjack punter and kicker earn All-Big Sky honors in 2010.

He served as the long snapper on special teams for the last four seasons, successfully completing over 200 snaps. He helped kicker Matt Myers and punter Drew Zamora both earn All-Big Sky honors in 2010.
