FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Junior Aubrey Davis totaled career highs with 12 points and 18 rebounds, the highest single-game rebounding total for NAU since 2007, and junior Amy Patton recorded 21 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lumberjacks past Cal State Fullerton, 64-54, on Sunday in Rolle Activity Center. NAU improved to 5-0 at home and 5-4 overall while the Titans, who lost by just 13 points to No. 24 Gonzaga on Friday, dropped to 3-4.

"I really felt that this was going to be a challenging game for us against a very good Fullerton team," said NAU head coach Laurie Kelly. "I really loved our defense and rebounding; we didn't play a perfect game but really competed. It's a great win, and we have three challenging games ahead of us before we start conference play so I felt this was a must-win for us."

The 18 boards for Davis tied for the ninth-highest single game total in program history and were the most since Ashley Ingle totaled 18 rebounds against Fairleigh Dickinson in 2007. She also added four blocks, two steals and two assists and shot 50% from the field while committing only two turnovers in 24 minutes. Patton rebounded from her first-career scoreless game on Thursday to score 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting with a pair of three-point makes.

NAU led throughout the contest, opening an early 6-0 lead as Cal State Fullerton did not record its first point until the 14:30 mark of the opening half. The Lumberjacks took an 11-2 lead after a pair of free throw makes by sophomore Amanda Frost, but the Titans got back within three points at 11-8 following a brief 6-0 run. With a 17-14 lead, the Lumberjacks held the Titans scoreless over a four minute period to open up a 23-14 advantage, while a late three-pointer by the visitors cut NAU's lead to 28-23 at the half.

The Lumberjacks led by at least five points throughout the second half, building a lead as big as 15 points after a Patton layup with 4:59 remaining in the game. Trailing 57-43 with just over three minutes to play, the Titans began fouling in hopes of cutting their deficit. Patton and Frost combined to go 6-6 from the line through the remainder of the contest, as NAU held on for the 10 point win.

NAU shot 48% in the second half, totaling 41% shooting for the game while Cal State Fullerton shot just 30% for the duration. Led by the 18 rebounds from Davis, NAU posted a dominant 53-32 total on the glass, including 21 offensive rebounds. Frost and sophomore Trinidee Trice each contributed six points off the bench as NAU got 38 total points from its bench and scored 34 points in the paint. Neither team shot well from three-point range, combining to go 5-28 from beyond the arc.

The Lumberjacks will play their final non-conference home game at 1:35 p.m. Saturday against Big-10 power Nebraska. The game will open a doubleheader with the NAU men, who will host CSU Bakersfield at 6:35.
