Wilder and Bauman Named to Phil Steele FCS All-America Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Northern Arizona seniors Andy Wilder and Zach Bauman were both named to Phil Steele's FCS Preseason All-American Team, announced Tuesday by the organization.

Wilder, a native of Scottsdale, Ariz., was selected first team specialists and the top returning punter in the FCS. Wilder, a 2012 Big Sky All-Conference pick, led the nation in punting with a 46.3 yards per punt average with 25 punts of 50 or more yards. He also made 38-of-39 PATs and led the team in scoring with 68 points.

Bauman was selected to the third team offense. He was also named the fifth-best running back and 10th-best all-purpose player in the FCS in the latest position rankings. Bauman is 119 yards shy of breaking the NAU career rushing record. The Walter Payton Award Watch List candidate is also ranked 11th on the Big Sky all-time rushing chart, as he needs 34 yards to enter the top 10.

Joining Wilder and Bauman on the preseason all-conference first team was junior R.J. Rickert (ranked 11th-best tight end) and senior Anders Battle (ranked 14th-best cornerback). Senior Lucky Dozier (11th-best safety) was selected to the second team.

The Lumberjacks open the 2013 season at the University of Arizona on Friday, Nov. 30. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. in Tucson.
