Banks Named Preseason Big Sky Second Team by College Sports Madness

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Coming off a breakout season, senior Erikka Banks was named to College Sports Madness' Preseason Big Sky All-Conference Second Team. Banks was a second team selection by College Sports Madness last season as well as an honorable mention all-conference player by the Big Sky coaches.

Banks excelled in her first season as a starter in 2013-14, leading the team in rebounds and ranking second in scoring. She averaged career-highs of 13.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game along with 1.5 assists and 1.7 steals. Banks was one of four players to rank in the top-10 in both scoring (10th) and rebounding (third) in the conference.

The Fresno, Calif. native led the Big Sky in field goal percentage and set a new school record by shooting 59 percent from the field, including 63.6 percent in conference play. She also got to the free-throw line at a high rate, posting the fifth-best season free throw percentage in school history (81.6 percent) and recording the second-highest free throw made total with 129.

Stacey Barr (Idaho), Kellie Cole (Montana), Lexie Nelson (Eastern Washington), Mia Lloyd (North Dakota) and Stephanie Lee (Northern Colorado) comprised the preseason first team, with Barr being named the Preseason Player of the Year. Banks was joined by Hayley Hodgins (Eastern Washington), Fantasia Hilliard (Sacramento State), Emily Easom (Portland State) and Jasmine Hommes (Montana State) on the second team.
