FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Shay Young will finally have the opportunity to take the court in the NAU blue and gold this season. Last season, she redshirted after transferring to Flagstaff following one season at New Mexico State where she played as a true freshman. Take a look at the redshirt sophomore forward from San Diego, Calif. before the Lumberjacks take the court on Nov. 3 with their home exhibition against New Mexico Highlands.
What's your life motto or philosophy you live by?
I try to stay positive and take every day one at a time.
Who would be your dream NBA/WNBA starting five?
Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, LeBron James, Steve Nash and Michael Jordan.
With the game on the line, would you rather score the game-winning shot or shut down your opponent one-on-one?
Shut down my opponent because it's more of a victory that way. They could get the winning shot, but because we got the stop it means more. Defense wins games.
What are your strengths as a player?
My mid-range shot is one of my strongest shots and I'm also a really good free-throw shooter.
What are your personal goals for the season?
I want to improve my game and get in great shape to run the court and contribute.
