/ October 22, 2014
NEW ORLEANS, La.- Despite a sixth-place finish at Wisconsin, Northern Arizona men's cross country stays in the top-10 in the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association poll. The 'Jacks pulled 238 points for their 10th-place ranking and remain second behind No. 1 Colorado in the regional poll.
Futsum Zienasellassie and Matt McElroy kept themselves on the national radar with second- and fifth-place finishes at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational last week. As a team, the 'Jacks took sixth with a score of 225, closely following No. 9 Stanford's 220.
Along with No. 9 Stanford, the 'Jacks were the only team to put multiple runners in the top-10.
No. 1 Colorado has been the unanimous first pick for the entire season and their first-place performance at the NCAA Pre-Nationals last weekend kept them at the top. The 'Jacks meet with the Buffs for the first time at the Mountain Regional on Nov. 14. No. 10 Northern Arizona is looking to three-peat as Mountain Regional champions.
The 'Jacks compete in their final regular season meet tomorrow at Arizona State.
