Lumberjacks Host Fresno State in Pajama Jam Home Opener

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona men's basketball team will host Fresno State on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. at the Rolle Activity Center. The Lumberjacks' home opener will be a pajama jam.

After falling in its first-two games of the season on the road, the NAU men's basketball team looks to catch a winning groove this week when it welcomes the Bulldogs. Fresno State holds a 6-0 advantage over NAU, including a 71-67 overtime win last year. The Lumberjacks are on a two-game win streak at home, while the Bulldogs dropped their most recent road contest.

The game will be televised live on FOX Sports AZ Plus (Flagstaff - DISH: 450 SD, 9573 HD            DirecTV: 686-1 SD & HD) and Fox College Sports Atlantic. Northern Arizona Facts

Quinton Upshur leads NAU in scoring after a pair of games with an average of 16.5 points per game, good enough for sixth in the Big Sky rankings. In his senior debut, Upshur netted 20 points at Xavier to lead all scorers.

Jordyn Martin is averaging 7.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

• Senior center Len Springs continues to climb the blocked shots chart. He is three blocked shots away from tying for eighth all-time on the career records chart.

• NAU is shooting 35.7 percent from the floor and 52.2 percent from the free throw line.

• The Lumberjacks rank in the top three in the Big Sky in three-point field goals made (7.0), assists (12.0) and steals (7.5).

 

Scouting Fresno State

• Head coach Rodney Terry enters his fourth season with Fresno State. Terry is 46-47 during his time at the helm of the Bulldogs.

• Fresno State returns four starters from last season's squad that went 21-18 and advanced to the College Basketball Invitational championship game.

• Fresno State was projected by the Mountain West media to finish seventh in the regular season conference standings.

• Julien Lewis is the top scorer for the Bulldogs so far this season with 18.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Paul Watson is second with 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

• Fresno State opened the season with an 89-74 loss at Pepperdine. In the Bulldogs last outing, they defeated Bristol, 93-55, to pick up their first win of the season.
