Sue Darling's Thoughts: "UTA is a much improved team from last year, so it's going to really be a quality challenge for us. Going out on the road in the unfriendly confines of another team's house makes for exciting possibilities. We were really intentional about being able to bounce back after a loss and we did that on Sunday against UC Santa Barbara. Now we're being really intentional about bouncing back after a win, so that's how we are approaching Wednesday."

Previewing The 'Jacks: NAU once again split its games last week, successfully bouncing back from a 82-58 loss on the road at UTEP to defeat UC Santa Barbara, 67-49, at home to even its season record to 2-2. Senior Erikka Banks posted averages of 14.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in the team's two games last week and through the first two weeks of the season, she is one of three layers averaging a double-double with season averages of 12.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. Banks is coming off a 23 point performance against UC Santa Barbara, marking the team's highest scoring output this season. Sophomore Rene Coggins scored a career-high 22 points against UTEP and also averaged 14.0 points per game last week. NAU's defense continues to be strong through the start of the season allowing 56 points per game, fourth-best in the conference. Senior Raven Anderson is anchoring the defense with 1.5 blocks per game which is tied for fifth in the Big Sky.

Scouting UT Arlington: UT Arlington suffered its first loss of the season last Saturday, falling to Wichita State by a 71-61 score after two season opening victories. During the first weekend of the season, the Mavericks earned a 90-32 victory over Missouri Valley College and a 83-73 win over Houston Baptist at home. With nine newcomers, UT Arlington has been led this season by freshman Rebekah Van Dijk who is averaging 16.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. Van Dijk is the Sun Belt Conference's fifth leading scorer and top rebounder and is also third in field goal percentage at .622. Freshman Cierra Johnson (11.0) and senior Chaun Williams (10.7) are also averaging double-digit points for a team that is averaging 78.0 points per game, third-most in the conference.

Series History:

  • NAU and UT Arlington will be meeting for the fifth time in school history. The all-time series is tied 2-2. NAU won the last meeting, 85-65, last season on Dec. 14 at home.
