NAU Hosts San Diego Christian This Sunday

Game Notes

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona men's basketball hosts San Diego Christian on Sunday, December 28. Tip-off versus the Hawks is set for 2 p.m. at the Walkup Skydome. 

The Lumberjacks are on a two-game losing streak, after dropping a pair of games in Virginia. NAU's last home win was against Loyola Marymount on Dec. 13, when the Lumberjacks topped the Lions, 71-69.

Sunday's game will not be televised, but fans can log on to www.NAUAthletics.com for live video and live stats. Fans can listen to the game on HITS 106.1 FM, KNOT 100.9 FM & 1450 AM, and www.Hits106.gcmaz.com. Fans in the Phoenix area can tune into Money Radio 1510 AM & 99.3 FM. Mitch Strohman will be providing play-by-play with Dave Brown providing color commentary.

 

Inside Northern Arizona 

• Head coach Jack Murphy enters his third season at NAU with a 30-46 overall record and 20-20 Big Sky mark.

• Seven different Lumberjacks have scored in double figures for NAU this season.

• Senior guard Aaseem Dixon is second on the team in scoring, and has registered five straight double digit scoring games. He ties for a team-high eight double figure scoring games. He ranks amongst the top 15 in the Big Sky in scoring and three-point field goals made. He's the only Lumberjack on the roster to register a pair of 30-point scoring games this season.

• Senior center Len Springs recorded 58 blocked shots last season to lead the Big Sky. It tied for the third-most in a single season by an NAU player. He currently has 21 so far this season.

• NAU had a 2013-14 home record of 9-4. The Lumberjacks are currently 2-1 at home and 2-7 on the road. NAU's last non-conference road win was on Dec. 16,, 2014 at Saint Mary's. NAU's last non-conference home win was on Dec. 13, 2014 in a 71-69 victory over Loyola Marymount.

Inside San Diego Christian

• Sunday's meeting will count for NAU, and will be an exhibition for SDC.

• Head coach Edgar Mendez is in his first season with SDC, after serving the previous season as an assistant coach.

• The Hawks are 5-5 on the season.

• Peter Beale-Wirsing leads SDC with scoring with 12.3 ppg, while Daniel Nielsen is shooting 54.1 percent for 11.7 ppg.

• The Hawks were predicted to finish eighth in the GSAC Coaches Poll.

• The Hawks ended the 2013-14 season with an overall record of 8-16 and a 4-10 GSAC record.
