FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona University's track & field team began competition at the Big Sky Outdoor Championship today. Jade Childs began the #NAUTakeover of this week's meet as she sits in fourth place in the women's pentathlon with 3,038 points through four events.

Reminiscent of the conference indoor championship, Childs is building the momentum for the Lumberjack women to begin the week.

Childs' first event was the women's 100m hurdles. The sophomore finished second in her heat thanks to a career-best performance of 14.07. Childs' time was fourth-best in the event and good for 968 points. 

Childs then proceeded to the high jump area where she finished seventh after clearing a best of 5-03 (1.6m).  Childs also found success in the shot put, finishing fourth overall with a best of 34-03.5 (10.45m) on the day.

Childs also took second in her heat of the 200m dash with a time of 26.26, good for eighth overall.

Childs will resume competition tomorrow, as she will look to improve through the final three events in the women's pentathlon.
