FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – No. 25 Northern Arizona football takes a trip to the Lone Star State to face Abilene Christian on Saturday, Sept. 6. Kickoff at Shotwell Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.

NAU was voted No. 25 in The Sports Network FCS Top 25 Poll released Monday. The Lumberjacks also earned a No. 24 ranking in the College Sports Madness Weekly Poll.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on HITS 106.1 FM and www.gcmaz.com. Fans in the Phoenix area can tune into Money Radio 1510 AM & 99.3 FM. Mitch Strohman will be providing play-by-play and Kevin Stephens will be doing color commentary. Live stats and live video are available on www.acusports.com. The game will not be televised.

The Lumberjacks dropped a 38-7 decision to San Diego State in its season opener on the road. The loss snapped a three-game road win streak for NAU. Junior wide receiver Alex Holmes recorded a career single game high 106 receiving yards. True freshman Elijah Marks returned four kickoffs for a total of 103 yards and an average of 25.8 to rank first in the Big Sky. The defense was led by senior Blake Bailey who recorded nine tackles, and junior Eddie Horn who registered eight tackles and grabbed one interception.

ACU was picked to finish eighth in the Southland Conference. The Wildcats enter their first season in over 40 years as a member of the SLC. ACU dropped its season opener 38-37 to Georgia State in the Georgia Dome, after a last second made field goal by the Panthers. Quarterback Parker McKenzie completed 30 of 40 passes for 403 yards and four touchdowns against Georgia State in ACU's season opener. Senior wide receiver Demarcus Thompson caught nine passes for 156 yards.

Storylines

• Saturday's game will be the third meeting between the two teams.

• NAU has won both of the previous meetings (1989 and 1995).

• Total Points - NAU 104, ACU 13

• Saturday marks the first time the two teams will play in Abilene. Both of the previous games were played in Flagstaff.

1995 – Flagstaff - NAU won 62-0

• NAU played ACU in the third game of the season. The Lumberjacks' 62-point shutout over the Wildcats was the first for NAU since a 24-0 victory over Idaho in 1986.

1989 – Flagstaff - NAU won 42-13

• The Lumberjacks opened the season with a victory over the Wildcats at home. It was one of three victories NAU earned that season. #FunFact All three wins were over teams with 'Cats in their nickname – Abilene Christian and Weber State (Wildcats) and Montana State (Bobcats).
