FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – No. 25 Northern Arizona (3-2, 1-0 Big Sky) won its fifth-straight Big Sky opener, as it continues league play this weekend on the road at Northern Colorado (1-3, 0-1 Big Sky). The Lumberjacks look to earn their 12th straight win over the Bears when they kickoff at Nottingham Stadium Saturday, Oct. 4 at 12:30 p.m. AZ time.

NAU returned to the national polls this week, when the FCS Coaches voted the Lumberjacks No. 25, after a 38-35 comeback victory against Cal Poly in front of a sellout crowd of 11,545 fans.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on HITS 106.1 FM, KNOT 100.9 FM & 1450 AM, and www.gcmaz.com. Fans in the Phoenix area can tune into Money Radio 1510 AM & 99.3 FM. Mitch Strohman will be providing play-by-play and Kevin Stephens will be doing color commentary. Matt Howdeshell will be reporting from the sidelines. Led by four touchdowns from quarterback Chase Cartwright and a pair of touchdowns from wide receiver Ify Umodu, NAU stunned Cal Poly in the final 30 seconds of the game to earn the win on Family Weekend. Cartwright found Casey Jahn for the 12-yard game winning touchdown to keep NAU's home game regular season win streak alive at seven. NAU is averaging 31.0 points per game, and is 1-2 on the road so far this season. Jahn has a team-best 346 rushing yards, while Alex Holmes leads NAU in receiving yards with 315.

Head coach Earnest Collins Jr. leads Northern Colorado in his fourth season with the Bears. UNC dropped its Big Sky opener versus Montana on the road last weekend, 38-13. The Bears have lost nine straight conference games, with their last league win coming on Nov. 17, 2012 versus North Dakota, in a 28-27 victory. The Bears are 1-0 so far this season at home, with a 28-20 win over Houston Baptist. UNC has used two different quarterbacks this season. Sean Rubalcaba is 40-for-58 with 519 yards, and one thrown touchdown. Jonathan Newsom is 22-for-40 with 198 passing yards. Four different Bears have scored a touchdown this season, led by Darius Graham who has a three. Robert Holland has rushed for 271 yards, and an average of 67.8 yards per game. Kyle Griffin leads the Big Sky in interceptions with three.
