NEW ORLEANS, La. – Northern Arizona men's cross country holds on to their No. 2 national ranking for the third week of the regular season.
The Lumberjacks took this week off as the season started to heat up. Oregon won the Battle of Beantown led by returning national champion Edward Cheserek in his fifth-straight cross country win. Also from last week's top-five, No. 4 Oklahoma State won their hosted meet.
Last week's No. 6 Stanford jumped over Portland with a win at their invitational while Portland sat the week out with No. 1 Colorado and the 'Jacks.
Northern Arizona will have to wait for the Mountain Regional to meet with the top-ranked Buffaloes, but will be tested against Stanford and a collection of top-15 teams this weekend in Washington. Oregon and Colorado stay close to home with the Charles Bowles Invitational and Rocky Mountain Shootout, respectively. Oklahoma State takes the weekend off.
