Grand Canyon Invite Final Results

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University women's tennis team competed in its second to last fall tournament at Grand Canyon University this past weekend (Nov. 6-8). Sara Brown, Jordan Denesik, Livia Hollosy and Julia Schepp all picked up wins for Northern Arizona in singles play, while doubles pairs Denesik/Brown and Hollosy/Schepp each made it to the doubles semifinals.

"We didn't necessarily get the results we were looking for this weekend as I really believed we could win the tournament," Head Coach Kim Bruno said. "But I still think there were slight improvements, and that's what we're looking for. Sara [Brown] and Jordan [Denesik] played their best toward the end, and Livia [Hollosy] and Julia [Schepp] both overcame a few things throughout the weekend."

Denesik, Hollosy and Brown all picked up one win a piece for Northern Arizona while Schepp finished 2-2 with wins over Lauryn Sullins from Arizona Christian University and Ansley Boarman from Abilene Christian University (ACU). She took down Sullins in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 and beat Boarman with a final score of 7-5, 6-2.

After a first-round bye in doubles play, Denesik/Brown faced Lucile Pothier and Kaysie Hermsdorf (ACU) and finished on top 6-1 to advance to the semifinals. Doubles pair Hollosy/Schepp also won their quarterfinals match against ACU's Boarman and Nada Marjanovic.

Northern Arizona women's tennis will wrap up its fall campaign Nov. 13-16 at Arizona State.
