/ December 22, 2015
DENVER, Colo. – Senior Kendall Brown continues to dominate the Western Athletic Conference's weekly honors this season, as she was named the WAC Swimmer of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday. Brown is the fourth Lumberjack to be honored by the conference office this semester as the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team has received a total of six awards.
Brown, who was named WAC Swimmer of the Week earlier this season by CollegeSwimming.com, picked up her second career weekly honor by the Western Athletic Conference.
The senior from Aliso Viejo, Calif. was one of six Lumberjacks to place second overall in an individual event in Saturday's four-team FAU Fun Invite in Boca Raton, Fla. Brown enjoyed her best finish of the day in the 500 freestyle posting a runner-up time of 5:03.99. She was only bested by Northwestern's Lauren Abruzzo and she finished directly ahead of two other swimmers from the Big 10 institution. In the 500 free, she picked up individual dual meet wins versus the other two schools involved in the meet – host Florida Atlantic and Marywood University.
Brown also swam the butterfly leg of the NAU's 400 medley relay team that finished third overall with a time of 4:15.61.
The Lumberjack swimming & diving team is capping off their training camp in Boca Raton today and will pick back up in 2016. NAU heads down to Tucson, Ariz. for its next competition versus Arizona and Oregon State. The Lumberjacks' annual Pac-12 double dual will start at 2 p.m. on Jan. 8.
