FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Senior Raven Anderson scored 21 of her career-high 25 points in the second half, helping the Northern Arizona women's basketball team snap a seven-game losing streak to Idaho State with a 64-47 victory in the Skydome. On Play 4 Kay night to bring awareness to breast cancer, the Lumberjacks rose to the occasion, moving to 6-5 in conference play and recording their 10th overall victory of the season.

The 10 wins surpasses last season's total while the Lumberjacks (10-12) continue to trend upward heading down the stretch. For the first time since the 2010-11 season, the 'Jacks have reached the double-digit win mark while moving into fifth place in the Big Sky standings.

"It's nice to see what we're doing on the court at this time of year," said head coach Sue Darling. "We still haven't played our best and we haven't peaked, but we're well on our way. This is the exact time of season you want to start peaking. This game meant a lot for a lot of reasons. We didn't like the way the game ended up (in Pocatello) and I personally had never beat them; none of the girls on this team had ever beat them. We did what we needed to do to win tonight."

In the teams' first meeting this season in Pocatello on Jan. 17, the Lumberjacks fell to the Bengals, 69-68, on a last second shot which prevented NAU from a victory despite the fact that it led on the road for more than 38 minutes in that game.

Anderson would not let the Lumberjacks suffer a similar result on Thursday as she powered her way through the Bengals, forcing three Idaho State forwards to foul out in the game. Anderson finished with her fourth 20-point game of the season and eclipsed her previous lifetime-high of 24 points set last season versus Weber State by shooting 9-of-16 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the line.

The first half was evenly played as it featured six ties although NAU took a 27-24 lead into halftime. After Idaho State took a 24-22 lead with 1:19 before halftime, senior Erikka Banks drained her second three-pointer of the half to put the 'Jacks in front and followed with a pair of free throws pushing NAU into the break with a three-point edge.

ISU shot 47.6 percent in the first half but went into the intermission behind on the scoreboard in large part to 14 turnovers. Banks meanwhile posted 11 first half points.

Coming out of the half, Anderson made her presence felt early and often scoring the Lumberjacks' first nine points, allowing them to take their first double-digit lead, 36-26, of the game four and a half minutes into the action. The Bengals eventually closed the gap to 37-35 with 12 minutes left before four straight points from sophomore Brittani Lusain extended NAU's cushion back out to six points.

Idaho State responded with a triple on the next possession, but the Lumberjacks scored the next five points which started a 15-4 run to put the game out of reach, capped by six straight points from Anderson. Ahead 56-42 with five minutes remaining, the Lumberjacks sealed the deal while holding an opponent under 50 points for the sixth time this season – and twice in the last three games.

"This game proved to ourselves that we can beat any team in this league," Lusain said. "We need to keep building on it and treat this win as any other win. We understood that this game was a game of runs and we needed to have the last, and best, run."

In the second half, NAU held Idaho State to just a 28.6 percent clip and for the game the Bengals shot 35.7 percent. In a reversal, the Lumberjacks finished the game at 40.4 percent after shooting 48.1 percent in the final 20 minutes.

NAU also made the most of its opportunities scoring 20 points of off 23 Idaho State turnovers while turning the ball over just 12 times itself.

Banks finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season, while moving into eighth all-time on the school's career rebounding list with 558. Lusain had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Anderson added seven rebounds and a pair of blocks to her career scoring night.

"This was our breast cancer awareness game and Coach (Darling) is a breast cancer survivor, so we took that to heart," Banks said. "We wanted to win this game for her and to be able to put our all into this game was unbelievable."

The Lumberjacks will host Weber State on Saturday in the Rolle Activity Center at 2 p.m. for a Valentine's Day matinee.
