LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Northern Arizona men's tennis team began their California road trip in Los Angeles with a matchup against Loyola Marymount. The Lumberjacks picked up two wins in singles but it wasn't enough as the Lions defeated NAU 5-2.

"Today was a tough loss against a good Loyola Marymount team," said head coach Ki Kroll. "We will have to keep working hard against the good teams we are facing but I do see us improving."

Loyola Marymount started the match winning the two doubles matches on courts one and three to take the 1-0 lead. After dropping the first doubles match on court five, NAU stormed back to tie the match at 2-2 with wins on courts four and six.

Alexandre Locci got NAU its first win of the day on court four with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Joat Farah. Adi Zilberstein followed Locci's lead winning 6-2 in both sets over Alex Bourgeois.

Jordan Gobatie took his opponent to three sets on court two coming back in the second set with a 7-5 win to force a third set. However, it wasn't enough against Errol Smith as Gobatie fell in the final set 6-4.

The Lumberjacks will close out their California road trip tomorrow when they face No. 60 in the country UC Irvine.
