NAU's Five-Match Winning Streak Snapped at Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. – The Northern Arizona men's tennis team saw its five-match winning streak snapped by Montana losing to the Grizzlies 6-1. The loss is NAU's first defeat in the Big Sky Conference, moving to 7-9 this season and 5-1 in conference.

NAU lost the doubles point for the first time in five matches as the Griz came away with victories on courts one and two. Montana then went into singles winning five of the six matches as Tomasz Soltyka defeated Jordan Gobatie on court one 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the match.

Kester Black was the only Lumberjack to come away with a win in singles on court four over Victor Casadevall. Black grinded out a 7-6 (7-5) win in the first set and then sealed the victory in set with an impressive 6-1 win over Casadevall.

Despite the loss, NAU is still tied for first place in the Big Sky as they are one of four teams with only one loss within conference. The Lumberjacks will be back on the court tomorrow, March 29, in Bozeman, Mont. to close out their four-match weekend against Montana State.
