FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak snapped by Idaho to end the weekend in Flagstaff. The Vandals (10-7) handed the Lumberjacks their first loss in conference as NAU moves to 5-1 in the Big Sky and 8-7 overall this season.

"In the big moments today, Idaho played more aggressive," said head coach Kim Bruno. "They played smart tennis and we played a little nervous too much. We need to learn from this and improve our mistakes because there is a great chance we will see this team again in the tournament."

Idaho started off on fire in doubles with a quick 6-0 win on court two from Sophie Vickers and Belen Barcenilla. It was a battle on one between Idaho's Galina Bykova & Emmie Marx against NAU's Johanna Vang and Marta Lewandowska. The duos went back and forth but the Vandals came out on top 6-4 to take the doubles point.

Idaho carried the momentum into singles starting off with two straight wins to open up play on courts two and one. NAU's Jordan Denesik cut the Vandals' lead, 2-1, with a 6-2, 6-1 over Lucia Badillos on court five. Belen Barcenilla clinched the win for the Vandals on court six with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Sara Brown, snapping her four-match winning streak.

NAU's final win of the day came from Lewandowska on court four over Rita Bermudez. After dropping the first set 6-3, Lewandowska stormed back to dominate the rest of the match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

The Lumberjacks will be back in action this upcoming Saturday, April 4, as they travel to face the defending Big Sky Champions, Sacramento State.
